Post-Release Post #8: Fear of Disappointing Readers

Posted by Lisa L. on Sunday, July 6, 2014,

Two of my most favorite, I-would-probably-pass-out-if-I-got-within-2-feet-of-them-and-sort-of-almost-did -when-I-met-one-of-them authors are Karin Slaughter and Dennis Lehane. This is well-documented.  I discovered Lehane in the last year, but I've been reading Karin Slaughter's books for over a decade. Both writers have a series based on a specific set of characters. I'm a dedicated, passionate fan of their work.

And yet, they've both written one book I felt disappointed by.

I won't say which ...

Post-Release Post #7: Marketing (Blog Tours)

Posted by Lisa L. on Friday, May 16, 2014,

I've had this post sitting here for a long time, waiting to be published. So here goes!

This post should really be called Marketing for the Indie Author because I'm pretty sure everything I'm about to say does not apply to authors published by Big 5 publishers or their imprints.  Although to be fair, authors pubbed by large houses still have to do a lot of marketing work via social media if they want to be successful.  I was going to do one post on Marketing but it turned out to be way, way, ...

Post-Release Post #5: The Year in Review

Posted by Lisa L. on Friday, January 3, 2014,

I had all these good intentions of doing a Happy Holidays post and a Happy New Year post . . . but those things didn't really work out.  Although I do hope you all had a fabulous holiday, and I hope 2014 brings wonderful things and good health to all!

My family and I were sick almost the entire month of December and when we weren't there were school obligations, Christmas-type obligations and other things that needed tending to.  But I had been working on this post piecemeal and I think it's...

Post-Release Post #4: FAQs

Posted by Lisa L. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013,

Before I begin, don't forget about the Aberration Blog Hop which will be held on June 6th and 7th to celebrate the release of my second book!  Prizes, people!  There will be prizes!  Go here to sign up.

Now that that's out of the way, welcome to the 4th installment of my Post-Release Series.

So now that my book has been out for six months, I've had enough time to field questions about it and about being an author and surprisingly, many of them come up over and over again.  Here are the most fre...
